Beho Beho Bushblog – Heribert – 29th July

We have had some awesome walks the last week. As the wilderness opens up a totally different experience comes with it. Lots of elephants, 300 strong herds of buffalo, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra you name it.

Now…. we know where there is abundant prey, it attracts the predators and that’s what is happening at the moment.

There is a pride of lions around here, I have not seen them altogether but we believe there is a total of 6 or 7.  They have been around the camp for a couple of weeks now. The nights are full of vocalizing, roars and grunts, which makes for very dramatic nights.

Elephants are plentiful, there are nice breeding herds around the camp, and on a walk yesterday we encountered a herd of say…. 10, all having a mud bath looking all black, you would imagine a painting. We were at a safe vantage point looking down the Msine dry river bed, standing there with these magnificent creatures is an experience one can’t properly put into words.
